BOMBARDIER DEMO ALP-45DP #4500
DCC & SOUND - GOLD VERSION
BOMBARDIER DEMOSTRATOR - NJ TRANIST SCHEME
This unique model is based on the prototype demonstrator version of the ALP-45DP locomotive built in Kassel Germany. The ALP-45DP is a “dual mode” locomotive, capable of drawing power from either overhead electrical wires or its own pair of 12-cylinder Caterpillar diesel engines. This demonstrator unit, which debuted at the Innotrans 2010 (International Trade Fair for Transport Technology) in Berlin, bore a special livery that was a mix between the paint schemes of the first purchasers of the locomotive—NJ TRANSIT and AMT. The locomotive, number 4500, would go on to be repainted and enter service in NJ TRANSIT’s fleet in 2011.
