SF SHADOW-LINE PASS CAR 2 PACK

SF SHADOW-LINE PASS CAR 2 PACK

Once the pride of the Santa Fe, the California Limited's stature began to decline with the introduction of the Chief in 1926. Through the 1930s and 1940s however, the heavyweight train remained popular enough to run in multiple sections daily between Chicago and Los Angeles. While lightweight streamlined cars occasionally found their way onto the train, most sections were predominantly older heavyweight coaches and Pullmans into the 1950s. Overflow head end traffic from the Fast Mail was also common making this the perfect eclectic consist for modelers who have more Santa Fe cars than we know what to do with! These new 18" Heavyweights will look great behind your new 4-8-4 or Warbonnet-clad diesels. Just to add a little more variety to this or any Santa Fe train, we've also added a special two pack of "shadow line" painted pseudo-streamliners! Following prototype practice, these heavyweights have been given a special paint scheme to blend in better with newer lightweight cars. The Santa Fe began adding these stripes in 1947. Though they were short lived on many cars, business and lounge cars lasted the longest - into the 1950s.
