Amtrak "Rainbow" 21" 4 pack Phase I
Amtrak's early years were a colorful and dynamic period! Trains became rolling rainbows as the best available cars were pulled from various sources and reassigned wherever they were most needed. Within a few years, new equipment, rebuilding, and repainting created a more uniform look. Recreate the patchwork quilt of an early 70's Amtrak train with these new cars from Lionel! Our sets feature cars from multiple predecessors, all meticulously documented in their original schemes during Amtrak service, along with a few freshly repainted cars in the "Phase 1" paint scheme. Perfect behind a GG1 or a pair of E8s, this collection offers a fascinating and prototypically accurate passenger consist for your layout. But it wasn't just the passenger cars that needed updates. As new equipment was introduced, Amtrak required a head-end-power solution for its aging locomotive fleet, which still had steam generators. Car 695 is one of these early HEP cars, ideal for pulling new Amfleets behind your VISION GG. Officially licensed product of Amtrak®. Amtrak® is a registered service mark of the National Railroad Passenger Corporation.
