Easily one of the most remarkable trains in theWest, only the spectacular scenery passingoutside the windows outmatched the EmpireBuilder’s accommodations. The Great Northernbegan upgrading the train in 1951 and startedadding dome cars in 1955. While the ranch cars,diners and sleeping quarters were all first rate,the views offered by the domes were the trains’main attraction.Lionel is proud to introduce one of our mostrequestedpassenger trains. Representingthe consist in 1955, our train is complete with RPO,coach, diner, Pullman, observation and of course,domes! Power for the train at this time was typicallyan A-B-A set of F7s. A second B unit was addedwith the arrival of the Great Domes in the fall of 1955.We’ve taken care of the train - all you have to dois recreate the Rocky Mountain scenery for your Oscale passengers to enjoy!
