In 1918, John Deere was the leading manufacturer of plows, and they were working to develop a tractor of their own to solidify that status. A $2 million dollar purchase of the Waterloo Gasoline Engine Company and the "Waterloo Boy" Tractor was the solution to that problem, and turned John Deere into the iconic company they are today.
