Description
Milwaukee Road Hiawatha Aluminum SS Diner (Orange)
The Milwakee road began upgrading it's Hiawatha service with new trains and new equipment in 1948. The new Skytop Lounge observation cars were a signature feature on the trains. In 1953, the first full-length dome cars in the country entered service. With the addition of the new Super Domes, the Hiawatha livery was modified by removing the maroon band above the windows. The Super Domes helped Milwaukee stake claim to some of the finest passenger trains in the West. By this time, diesels were standard power on these premier trains. But we wouldn't blame you for substituting a new S3 Northern anyway!
