The Congressional and Senator trains, featuring stainless steel equipment, continued to roll into the late 1960s. Although they began to lose some of their fancy striping and luster, the Penn Central era brought its own unique character with a mix-and-match of paint schemes and substitute cars, using whatever was serviceable that day. The GG1s traded their classic pinstripes for the new PC logo, affectionately known as "worms," while a few received a splash of color with the red and white PC scheme. While some might argue the trains never looked better, they certainly remained anything but boring.
