Unit trains of ethanol have been a common sight across the United States for the past two decades. Mile-long black snakes of tank cars are often punctuated by older "buffer" cars on each end and road power commonly stays with the train as well providing some color and interest especially on connecting lines. An increasing variety of ethanol company names and logos adorn the car, adding even more modeling appeal.Lionel's latest ethanol set combines this "old and new" appearance. Union Pacific 9696, one of the last units to remain in Chicago Northwestern paint leads a Midwest Ethanol train featuring two different company liveries on the tank cars and even two variations in the buffer cars including an old-school MoPac buzzsaw! But what will really set this train apart on your railroad are the fun features of the pair of VISION tank cars spaced into the consist. Complete with loading and unloading sequences and FreightSounds activating by motion, curve and impact sensors, these VISION tank cars bring the train to life.Who says unit trains have to be boring?!
