In the late 1940s, a whimsical new accessory appeared in the American Flyer catalog. “Here’s tireless Sam, all set to guard against rail accidents on your American Flyer pike. Press operating button and by remote control, Sam dashes out of shack, halting oncoming train. Press second button and Sam hustles back into house, enabling train to resume its trip.
