To support the numbers of wounded American heroes coming home from the front, hospital trains transported many from coastal ports to inland hospitals. These trains were outfitted with cots, medical personnel and life-saving equipment and given top priority on the line. Today many of these cars and their amazing stories have been preserved around the country.
