M1 Middle Division Manifest Legacy Set

The M1s could be found just about anywhere, but noplace felt more like “home” than the Middle Division.Rolling hills turned into deep valleys as the 4-track mainline paralleled the Juniata River west on this vital centralartery of the PRR’s Broad Way. While not heavily dottedwith large cities or industries, there were and are stillplenty of notable customers along this busy rail highway.We couldn’t make an all new release of M1’s and not paytribute to one of the Pennsy’s most famous divisions!This set includes a Legacy M1 featuring a postwar frontend with cast pilot and 6-wheel long-haul tender.Three freight cars pay homage to online industries;Pennsylvania Glass Sand in Mapleton, Freedom Iron inBurnham (just off the mainline near Lewistown) and GeneralRefractories in Mt. Union. Freedom Iron Companytraced it’s roots back to 1795 and became one of the firstBessemer furnaces in the US. Glass Sand is still quarried atMapleton and shipped around the country today. Whileprobably best known by rail-fans as the interchangepoint with the East Broad Top narrow gauge railroad,Mt. Union once featured several brick refractories. Thisboxcar is equipped with our FreightSounds featuresto add more fun to the train! An N5b cabin car with thedistinctive yellow “pool service” cupola brings up themarkers. Whether you model the Middle Division or not,this train is classic Pennsy from end-to-end!
