This HO Scale Streamlined Class K4 4-6-2 from Broadway Limited is ideal for your mid-1930s and later layout. A number of K4s locomotives had streamlining applied over the years. All were later removed, restoring the locomotives to their original appearance. In February 1936, locomotive 3768 was clad in a shroud designed by famed industrial designer Raymond Loewy. This highly concealing, enveloping streamlined casing hid most of the functionality of the steam locomotive, leading to its nickname of "The Torpedo" by train crews.

At first, the locomotive was not painted in standard Dark Green Locomotive Enamel (DGLE) but instead in a bronze color. It was later refinished in DGLE. A matching tender ran on unusual six-wheel trucks. Like most streamlined steam locomotives, the shrouds impeded maintenance and the covers over the wheels were later removed. For a time, the locomotive was the preferred engine for the Broadway Limited train. This detailed streamlined K4 features full Paragon3 sound and DCC for realistic sound and motor control complete with back EMF for smooth slow speeds. The Paragon3 sound system works with all Broadway Limited Rolling Thunder(TM) advanced sound systems. Other features include a heavy die cast body and chassis; smooth-running drive, applied details; directional warm white LED lighting and magnetic knuckle couplers. The HO Scale K4 can be operated on all DCC systems as well as on standard DC railroads (with limited sound functionality). This model has wheels profiled to operate on Code 70 and larger rail and curves of 18" radius or larger are recommended. The detailed electric comes in multiple roadnumbers for each railroad when appropriate. The streamlined Class K4 4-6-2 is one of many Broadway Limited HO Scale Paragon3 locomotives.
