Series 701 is a light stainless 3-door 20-meter-class AC suburban electric train which was newly deployed to replace passenger trains and JNR electric trains which had been engaged in the suburban transport of commuters and freight in the area. The train is equipped with VVVF inverter control system and furnished with long seats to facilitate conductor less operation and smooth move inside. The 2 to 4 car train consists are available and one of them is chosen according to the transport volume.
